Christmas in July is a Reedsport, Oregon-based nonprofit
organization of volunteers that assist the elderly, disabled, or low-income
homeowners with needed repairs and modifications to their homes that the homeowners
are no longer able to do themselves. The goal is to provide safe and warm
housing for people in our community.
In 2023, Christmas in July completed 30 projects with 65 volunteers providing 1,256 hours of labor. Along with those volunteers there is a committee of 14 that meets monthly to discuss and assess the requests that are received. We also had two people who are involved in writing grants and doing organizational work as well as a pair who review each project in person and give recommendations as to how to proceed. Those people have provided approximately 530 additional volunteer hours. That’s a total of 1,176 hours devoted to improving our community.
Projects are funded through grants and the generous donations of community members. There is no cost to the homeowner for the projects completed.
